New year, new project.

Trying to make a 1400BCE Mycenaean inspired stirrup bowl. Using a squat version in the Walters Art Museum as my inspiration.

Hollow form from to slabs bowls and a bunch of paddling to make a pleasing shape. Letting it get a bit firmer before I do any more work.

We don’t know much about Mycenaean #astronomy but there are indications that the #Pleiades were important for seafaring and they adopted the #Mesopotamian important agricultural constellations of #Aquarius for the rainy season and Field/Furrow (#Virgo ) for sowing & reaping
