I feel that Mastercard and Visa have severely damaged their public image among many internet communities. They could have simply done their job as payment processors without attracting criticism, but now they’ve positioned themselves as adversaries of the open internet. Since when did payment processors gain such authority? This is the first I’ve heard of it.

Ok so here's my promise...so long as I can find a web host...I will host my website on my own domain, I will keep my email with a independent email provider and while I do use the occasional LLM edit for my rough drafts (grammar and spelling elude me). I will always write my rough drafts. Working toward the Internet existing beyond 4 sites filled with screens shots of the other 3.

UPDATE: r/ohmbudsman never launched—because #Reddit banned it first.

Months of prep, zero posts, no rule violations. Just a silent kill before liftoff.

We’ve filed an appeal. No response yet.

We’re not saying this was censorship…
But if you see a subreddit vanish before your eyes, now you know: it happens.

How I explain

In my opinion, Fediverse is "Federated Universe," which means interconnected servers that use the ActivityPub protocol to exchange and distribute information to each other, such as social media posts (Mastodon, GotoSocial, Lemmy, and Threads), blogs (WriteFreely, Plume, and WordPress with the ActivityPub plugin).

Those software are usually free, libre, and open source, but some also use subscription-based marketing, such as managed hosting of the mentioned software, write.as, and micro.blog. Have fun experimenting with those software. My shortest Mastodon instance was ≤ 3 days lol.

So far, I know the Fediverse exists because those people with a huge amount of money destroyed that very popular social app by buying and owning it, lol. Many servers across the Fediverse mean that no single company can overtake single server.
