Some would recall the President-Elect’s eloquent words of comfort to the 2018 #ParklandSchoolShooting victims when he said that he would “run in there even if I didn't have a weapon” to take down the #ActiveShooter and save the day.

Today the #PresidentElect wrote that #California “incompetent pols have no idea how to put” the #LAFires out, that “[t]hey just can’t put out the fires. What’s wrong with them?” He didn’t mention #FirstResponders. He gave no words of comfort to those that are suffering through this catastrophe.

But I can’t wait for #Jan20 because – like the ending of the Ukraine and Gaza conflicts and #MakingEggsCheaper#President #Trump will get the #CaliforniaFires out on #DayOne of his #NewAdministration! Let him run in there amongst the flames in his #InagurationDay super-suit and quench the #wildfires with his famous #BigWater !

Donald Trump avoids jail time and fine in hush money case sentencing: Donald Trump will not face jail time or fines in his hush money trial. Instead, the president-elect received an “unconditional discharge at today’s sentencing.” Trump was convicted in May last year on 34 counts of falsifying business records over hush-money payments in 2016. It was argued that he did so to cover up a payoff […] creebhills.com/2025/01/donald- #DonaldTrump #HushMoney #LegalBattle #CourtDecision #PresidentElect

"Congress has the power to block Trump from taking office, but lawmakers must act now"

@markreckons in conversation with former attorney Richard Greene (the “Civics Dean”) explaining the #Trump #disqualification under #14thAmendmentSectionThree including a discussion of Trump v. Anderson and Congress’ role under the #ElectoralCountAct (as amended 2022).

My take-away from the interview: Thompson & Greene agree that it’s not going to happen: i.e., Trump will be inaugurated on #Jan20 , but #Democrats should act on their Constitutional duty and object to his Electoral votes on the grounds that the #PresidentElect is an adjudicated #insurrectionist

As I noted originally, there *is* a growing body of legal opinion that views the now #PresidentElect to be Constitutionally #disqualified from holding office. As might be expected, this body of opinion is now being added to: some of the opinion is as current as today where, in a YouTube discussion with Brian Tyler Cohen, former federal prosecutor Glenn Kirschner re-states his view that #Trump has been adjudicated as an insurrectionist by: i) the state of Colorado; ii) #Congress (in the second #impeachment trial); iii) the #Jan6 Committee (1). #Insurrection – & not treason – is the relevant yardstick for #14thAmendmentSectionThree

Cohen & Kirschner also discuss a Dec 26 article by Evan A. Davis & David M. Schulte (“Congress has the Power to Stop Trump from Taking Office…”) where legal scholars Davis & Schulte argue that despite the implications of Trump v. Anderson (the Colorado case in #SCOTUS), Trump is still disqualified due to legal precedent & his Electoral College votes may be objected to in Congress on that basis under the Electoral Count Act (2).

I further note that there are other mechanisms available for Congress to ‘trigger’ disqualification (or to “remove such disability”) under #AmendmentXIV (see Kaitlyn Bird, “King Trump is not Inevitable” (3), Jessica Denson’s YouTube channel (4) & bibliography of legal opinion (5)): mechanisms that also fall within SCOTUS’ determination in Trump v. Anderson.

I’m not a US citizen but I care about the country (to the point that I wrote a book about it) & this is my reading of the up-to-date (as of today) legal thinking on the left. I still think that you have an ‘out’: but that this ‘out’ is going to expire on #InaugurationDay After that, all bets are off.

The text of the #14thAmendmentSectionThree of the US #Constitution states that:

No person shall be a Senator or Representative in Congress, or elector of President and Vice President, or hold any office, civil or military, under the United States, or under any state, who, having previously taken an oath, as a member of Congress, or as an officer of the United States, or as a member of any state legislature, or as an executive or judicial officer of any state, to support the Constitution of the United States, shall have engaged in insurrection or rebellion against the same, or given aid or comfort to the enemies thereof.

On #Jan6 2021 the whole world saw then #POTUS #Trump incite an #insurrection. There is a growing body of legal opinion that views the now #PresidentElect to be Constitutionally #disqualified from holding office (see nowmarch.org/legal-authority/ )

Led by #JessicaDenson there are events planned for January 3-5, 2025 in #WashingtonDC (see nowmarch.org/ )

Just to make it clear: there is almost no chance that ANY issue would gather a 2/3 majority in Congress or Senate, let alone in both!

So if the issue of Trump being an insurrectionist will be brought to the two floors, there is close to ZERO chance that Trump's constitutional disqualification to take office would be reversed.

Let it get brought to the floor, call your Congresspeople and Senators, just f*ing DO IT!
