Received my post yesterday for the first time in ages. The oldest letter was dated 12th May so took 10 days to get here. I have stuff coming from China that takes less time!

I assumed our local post was just rubbish but apparently my wife's patients miss her appointments because the letters don't arrive on time so the problem seems more widespread.

I'm going to track my deliveries and will kick up a fuss if this is now the standard we can expect after #royalmail privatisation

Hmm.

The Billionaire who bought (or is currently in 2025) buying Royal Mail has apparently signed a contract not to make any major changes to the company for 3 years after sale.

I'm predicting it now.

After 3 years it'll be made so expensive it'll be out of scope for normal current users or some entity like Amazon (or indeed the actual Amazon) will buy it wholesale.

'Selling the Family Silver' is such an understatement.

We encourage postal workers to attend this Sunday’s online meeting of the PWRFC on April 27 at 7 p.m. The meeting will expose the attacks on the USO at pilot and non-pilot offices and discuss a fighting strategy to oppose Kretinsky’s war plans against the mail service.

Royal Mail: What made a billionaire want to buy this fading relic?

From the end of April, the 500-year-old Royal Mail will be controlled by Czech billionaire Daniel Kretinsky, who co-owns a football club and is a major investor in a British supermarket - so, why would he want this ailing institution?

Hmmm.... Simon Jack of the BBC offers a (relatively) comprehensive overview of Daniel Kretinsky's take over of the Royal Mail.... but misses what many suspect to be a key underlying logic; a property play on the land & facilities that the RM owns right in the centre of many towns & cities.

But other than that (perhaps quite serious omission) not a bad overview of what's happening with the purchase...
