#ScribesAndMakers Apr 14. Would you enjoy living in a creative village/house/shared accommodation? Or do you already?
I think I probably would. Being surrounded by a bunch of people, not just immediate family, feels intuitively pleasant. I'm sure it involves *lots* of meetings, and I'm pretty good at meetings!
#ScribesAndMakers 14. Would you enjoy living in a creative village/house/shared accommodation? Or do you already?
What an interesting question! I think I might enjoy it temporarily, like for an artist residency. I've done this on different creative workshops. Living with strangers in a shared space for a long time might be difficult but when it's for a long weekend or five days, it can be fun.
#ScribesAndMakers 4/14. Would you enjoy living in a creative village/house/shared accommodation? Or do you already?
I find working with and talking to other creatives to be invigorating.
Whether I'd want to be in a place where there were lots of creatives? I don't know, could be good. Could be awful.
#ScribesAndMakers Day 14: Would you enjoy living in a creative village/house/shared accommodation? Or do you already?
I'm actually pretty happy living alone.
#ScribesAndMakers 14. Would you enjoy living in a creative village/house/shared accommodation?
I would enjoy living in it, and something that we've thought about doing is setting up a way for people to come have writing retreats here.
Although given that spouse is also a creative, I suppose at the moment we do live in a creative house.
#ScribesAndMakers 14. Would you enjoy living in a creative village/house/shared accommodation?
i actually prefer to have contact with people outside the arts. when artists get too insular, they forget how to make art that connects outside their circle. it's like when writers get famous, and then slowly forget how to write stories about people outside of academia and publishing.
i'd prefer a creative social group that i could attend semi-regularly, but then come home from.
#ScribesAndMakers Apr 14 - Would you enjoy living in a creative village/house/shared accommodation? Or do you already?
My family home when I was growing up was a pretty creative place, but none of us would have thought of it that way.
And I've spent most of my professional life in various creative teams, but I think it would've been a nightmare if I hadn't been able to leave them behind at the end of the working day.
#ScribesAndMakers April 14: Would you enjoy living in a creative village/house/shared accommodation? Or do you already?
Creativity is not the trait I care about having in common with prospective neighbours.

Would you enjoy living in a creative village/house/shared accommodation? Or do you already?
A village would be cool, where I'd have fun & like-minded neighbors to socialize with when I wanted, but I need my own private, QUIET space to write with no interruptions.
#ScribesAndMakers April 14: Would you enjoy living in a creative village/house/shared accommodation? Or do you already?
Conceptually? Sure. Specifically? It would depend.
(My roommate is an artist and sometimes we collaborate on an extremely high level. I don't think that's quite what we're talking about, though.)
#ScribesAndMakers for April 14:
Would you enjoy living in a creative village/house/shared accommodation? Or do you already?
Village yes, house no. My wildest fantasies actually separate the houses of my own immediate family into effectively separate dwellings. I'm not about to make that sillier by adding even more heads under the same roof.
I do benefit from close proximity with other creatives though. As a multidisciplinary general-purpose "maker of things", I'm always surprised how often a conversation with a few visual artists can unstick my writing problem, or a frank exchange on development practice suddenly makes me solve a print design issue.
Of course, anything I'd call a "village for creatives" is damn close to the real goal anyway: walkable and liveable urban development.
Death to the pedestrian tax.
#ScribesandMakers Day 14. Would you enjoy living in a creative village/house/shared accommodation? Or do you already?
Creative village sounds so cool. To be able to talk with other creatives and share ideas. House or shared accommodation...eh. I need my own space, especially having lived most of my life sharing space with other people.

create community/living
I’m not closed to the idea, but would have questions & concerns. An elitist commune for the wealthy? Count me out.
1st question? With who? Simply being creatives isn’t enough. I’ve been in groups & seen how one toxic person can destroy them, & I'd want serious creatives only.
That said, I’m enough of an idealist to be interested, especially if nature was close at hand & I had my own community space.
But probably not.
#ScribesAndMakers Apr 14: Would you enjoy living in a creative village/house/shared accommodation? Or do you already?
Living with my family (and our dogs and cats) suits me just fine.
#ScribesAndMakers 14 Apr: Would you enjoy living in a creative village/house/shared accommodation? Or do you already?
I don't function well around other people—I really enjoy living alone and don't want to change that. My dream is maybe a little commune where we're all close neighbours and can do communal things but I have my own space.
#ScribesAndMakers Apr 14: Would you enjoy living in a creative village/house/shared accommodation?
Probably not. That would require dealing with people.
#ScribesAndMakers 14 Apr: Would you enjoy living in a creative village/house/shared accommodation? Or do you already?
No. I need my own house, my own space. A creative village that offered me that would be worth considering, but definitely not shared accommodation.
#ScribesAndMakers 14 Apr: Would you enjoy living in a creative village/house/shared accommodation? Or do you already?
I definitely wouldn't want to live in a shared house or any other kind of shared accommodation. I'm even more of an introvert now than when I was young.
However, you could say that I already live in a creative village. My local friends are creative people. We meet and talk about what we're doing, yet have our own homes where we have quiet and privacy to do our creative work.
