I was just about to ask whether it is me or #mediumwave has become so deaf to anybody else... but there comes HLCA on 972 kHz 🇰🇷 ✈️ 🇵🇱

I moved my large, ~3m dia. #YouLoop so that I could aim it more E-W or NE-SW for those Asian signals today, and I also replaced the 1:1 balun bc I felt like something was wrong w/ the previous one (it cut VLF away!), so I could've messed up something 🤓

Listening to baseball on the radio. #WLW 700 kHz via an #Airspy HF+ and a #YouLoop antenna. Transmitter is about 200 miles direct from here, nearly due south along I-75.

There is some noise under the signal but it's very copyable.

Cubs leading the Reds 14-6 bottom of the 7th inning.

Here is a snapshot from #GQRX. I have stations labelled with the baseball team to listen to.

Hearing a weak Greek #pirate on 1125 kHz on a 3m dia. #YouLoop I put on the air for IARU Championship last weekend. Very busy OM DJ apparently doing LOTS of shoutouts w/ "Kalispera", even heard him taking a phone call, all mixing w/ Greek Music. 1926z one such shoutouts was for sb in Thessaloniki. Very poor, compromised by some UNID noise (not necessarily my streetlight which had been wreaking havoc on my #MWDX the past 2 seasons) as well as thunderstom static. #mediumwave

Knocked up a home made #youloop - otherwise known as a #moebius antenna today. Surprised that it works at all for such a small circumference - about 220cm. I've an #airspy HF+ Discovery, which is sensitive enough for it. Learnings: 1. It's impossible to solder the shield of Screwfix RG6 satellite coax 2. Use 2 small boxes for the connections. - I didn't. #hamradio

#AirspyHF SDR and a #Youloop mag loop antenna, listening to Pop Shop Radio via WRMI Okeechobee. Show starts 900p Eastern Sundays, on 5950 kHz.

I do not understand loop antennas, but they are fun to experiment with. The lowest noise floor I can get on shortwave (-110 dB) gives me -60 dB signal for WRMI. The same antenna configuration has -55 dB noise at 950 kHz.

I need to find a hula hoop?

Antennas, how do they even work?

19m on Airspy #YouLoop at 8pm mid-March in Poland. I start w/ a MASSIVE signal of Radyo Pilipinas 🇵🇭 on 15190 kHz. Then two Issouduns🇫🇷 but w/ very uneven signals: NHK 15130 & RFI 15300. Then AWR Hausa via 🇲🇬 on 15360, kinda weakish but there. 🇩🇿 on 15410 - even weaker. Then 15580 VOA nice pop mx, 15730 another VOA in French, both via 🇧🇼. 15770 WRMI & 15825 WWCR 🇺🇸 are rather weak, so is RHC🇨🇺 15140 earlier. Finally Pluto #OTHR 🇨🇾🇬🇧, and STANAG-4481 FSKs from NAA 🇺🇸 (15958 USB) & NAU 🇵🇷 (16123). #shortwave

#TVPiS propaganda time CNR1 jammer scan Mar 12 2023, this time on Airspy YouLoop indoors: maybe a very poor one on 7310 kHz initially, but made it P-F upon careful adjusting the loop. Also good on 9155 & 9255, both sounding swishy.

Firedrakes vs RFA: 9950 good vs moderate Digital Jammer, and RFA mostly readable underneath. 11565 same except no noise jamming, and both FD & RFA are stronger - to VG levels from CHN.

Oh and RNZ Pacific is still VG even on that #YouLoop! WOW! #shortwave
