Ze voeren actie tegen de desastreuze bezuinigingen van het kabinet op het hoger onderwijs, die meer dan een miljard euro bedragen. De staking in Rotterdam is de achtste staking van de estafette. In totaal staakten er door het hele land al zo’n 25.000 studenten, docenten en medewerkers tegen de bezuinigingen.

I somewhat reluctantly moved my Tuesday course this semester from 14:15 to 16:15 because no rooms were available.

Now that we’re halfway through the semester, I’ve got to say, this is the best change to my teaching schedule I’ve ever made, and I get to use what is probably the nicest room in the building :-)

Made a few updates and released a new version of #calliope , a #bash script based utility to write a journal using #LaTeX. Since it's #LaTeX based, you can pretty much add whatever you wish to your journal---images, other PDFs, beautiful maths, and of course, you can customise it as you wish to suit your needs. It's all managed by #Git and if you'd like you can encrypt your journal entries using #gpg

Your chatbots are about to kill Wikipedia. Wikipedia is as reliable as Encyclopaedia Britannica, it is a great testament to the power of the people, and of non-profit knowledge and community. So obviously its ripe for total abuse and destruction by private enterprise. Do we teach this in university? Of course we don't.

does anyone know of a publication that might be interested in my writing about why I'm leaving #CSUN after my leave of absence—that the #JewishStudies department isn't a safe space for disabled students, let alone #AntiZionist students, let alone #AntiZionistJews?

I started to write it as a thread on Bluesky, but it's too long to condense into posts, too awkward when individual sentences are the length of the character limit here sometimes (yes I write long sentences). but more than that, although I have chosen to leave rather than fight harder, I want this heard.

I want to pitch it somewhere, #Academia #AmWriting #CalState #Freelancing #OpEd #Pitching #Writers #Writing, but I'm not sure where's going to be receptive and I'm open to suggestions.
