Bringing a Decade Old Bicycle Navigator Back to Life with Open Source Software (and DOOM) - Raymii.org
This is your daily reminder that Microsoft is subject to a BDS boycott due to its active support of the IDF during the genocide in Palestine via Microsoft Azure & AI services. Microsoft has additionally actively tried to purge pro-Palestinian dissent among its employees and has repeatedly fired people for objecting to its complicity in genocide. If you support Microsoft (or its products) with your money or with your voice, your supporting is helping to enable genocide.
This boycott targets most of Microsoft's products and services, including the entirety of Microsoft's gaming division. This means every company owned by Microsoft - and unfortunately, that is a lot.
Popular developers owned by Microsoft include ID software, Bethesda, Activision Blizzard, Obsidian Entertainment, Double Fine, and Mojang.
Popular & upcoming games included in this boycott are Overwatch 2, Minecraft, Doom: The Dark Ages, the Oblivion Remake, The Outer Worlds 2, the Elder Scrolls Online, every Call of Duty game, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 + 4, the Forza series, and more.
If you aren't willing to stop playing these games, please consider at least not spending any money on them and not amplifying them on social media. It sucks, I know. I have been a huge fan of ID software and Bethesda for much of my life. But they will still be here in a few years, whereas if we do not do everything in our power stop the genocide in Palestine, Palestine may not.
You can read more about the boycott at the BDS movement website:
DOOM, but you can cut, copy, and paste your opponents ("I don't know why I did this." ) https://youtu.be/LcnBXtttF28
Someone turned DOOM into the world's most violent text editor. Copy demons, paste nightmares, and apparently monsters get "not really happy" about being duplicated. Gaming just got a whole lot more like office work.

It took me ages, but now that I actually looked into it myself, I fully understand why #Doom mapping and modding is still a thing, more than 30 years after the game was released.
It's just soooo easy to get started. The hard stuff will always be hard of course, but you don't have to aim for that.
My ambitions are just "have fun" and Doom is perfect for that. It's super easy to throw something together in a few minutes and put it into the game.
I've been on a #Doom kick lately. Getting Doom playing on old consoles and computers is fun. Next up, Doom and Doom 2 on the #N64 via a project called #64Doom. That has been other ports done by the community over the years with various problems, but this one sticks the landing. It's great in every way.
I recommend using the D-pad and ignoring the analogue stick. It feels wrong if you are coming from the PC. #retrogaming https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gcF3zD9tUg8

I'm on the fence if I really want to buy this game or not. I already have the officially reelased version of #Doom on the #SNES, but an even better version is even cooler. Nevertheless, it's still cool AF he went back and made the SNES port even better. #retrogaming https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NYN0twdMiDk
