Sometimes I like to pretend I'm wandering around in the wilderness.
This is a little shortcut between a couple houses on one of my mail routes. I prefer this footpath over the alternative (crossing into a main road), even when the weather is bad.
This footbridge that I crossed last week was the last human-made structure before I entered into the wilderness when backpacking in the White #Mountains, #NewHampshire. Beyond that point, I enjoyed a primitive single-track trail that wound through the dense forest and across many streams, providing me with the solitude that I desired. #FootpathFriday #Footbridge #hiking

Hiked a local state park that I quit going to when it got privatized to some extent several years ago. It's still in good shape, trails were not busy on a weekday early morning. Here's a shot for #FootPathFriday #Hiking #AltText
When the kids and I were first getting into backpacking we visited Siouxon Creek many times. On Sunday I visited it for the first time since a wildfire in 2020. Before the fire it was a magical river valley of second growth forest so these burn scars were pretty heartbreaking to walk through but there was more surviving forest than I expected and the trail was in great shape.
The way the forest was rebounding was heartening. Native undergrowth has surged up in the burn scars sometimes taller than I am. Down near the ground I found a carpet of little seedlings. Give these little guys a few years.
forbidden #footpathfriday , maybe ill-advised, but sooooo tempting >.>
Nog maar een #FootPathFriday.
Hier liep ik zojuist met Bruce (aan de lijn).

The one trail on Bear Island, a barrier island off the coast of North Carolina.
No resorts. No extravagant homes. No shops. Just the dunes and their natural environment.
