ceramic tree sculpture inspired by the Warren Woods in Michigan and the Somme woods north of Chicago. this is the moment of the year when trees really shine— their key roles (home or shelter or refuge for wild creatures, food for wild creatures, perfect place for lichen and moss to thrive, connecting and supporting their neighbor trees) are essential for a nature to thrive. it’s not very easy to see them all, but there are four creatures enjoying my tree. can you spot them all?

Happy Jenny's Birtthday! Today she would have been 60.

Years ago (on G+ so i can't resurrect what I said exactly) I started a "tradition" that goes something like this:

Jenny loved trees, so for her birthday, I like to find a tree to hug. Everybody, find a tree, hug it, 'cause Jenny is awesome & the world is a much poorer place without her.

(Yes, i was low on spoons so i just copied a past post but the sentiment remains as strong)

Jenny (age 8) in one of the big ol' weeping willow trees in Omama's backyard. I climbed up higher in the tree to take the picture looking down on her as she looks up into the camera (you can just make out the tip of my knee in the lower left corner).
