literal translation: frisian mink
in german, "nerz", which means mink, is sometimes used as a shorthand for a fur coat. frisians are a north european ethnic group who the coastal region friesland is namend after. a stereotype about that region is the harsh rainy weather, so an oilskin is more useful than a fur coat. so this is called a frisian fur coat. those were in style in germany in the 70s and 80s.
