Problem is that their business model should not exist to begin with.

#CreditCards suck - period!
youtube.com/watch?v=wqhGyLP9Q0

#SEPA wire transfers and #ec / #giropay work way better and have way higher adoption and acceptance in #Germany due to lower fees and not requiring someone to have yet another contract with yet another value-removing middlemen!

That being said, #prepaid #cashless payment systems that ain't that well integrated died out for that reason, like #GeldKarte, which was a bankless prepaid cash card [similar to #Pasmo and #Suica, but instead of using Sony's #FeliCa #RFID tech it used #Chip + #PIN tech] that suffered from the fact that it required people to manually top it up and so it was rarely used by few people - like a #Payphone-Card...

Case in point: #Cash just works and we should fight for it's continued existance unless we can abolish #capitalism instead, then we should do that!

It only took a couple of months after #PASMO announced they'd be supporting #ApplePay / #AppleWallet for them to actually launch it, so if #ICOCA were to follow roughly the same timeline then in theory it could launch as soon as next week (their announcement was on 17 April).

But that assumes they've already been working on it long before the announcement. They seemed a bit on the back foot when originally quizzed about it. If not, maybe another few months? Time will tell!

Okay, so I eventually got it all working. I replaced whatever incarnation of "z80asm" had once been used to assemble the BIOS, BDOS and CCP parts of CP/M with the tiny, little "pasmo" #Pasmo assembler
(pasmo.speccy.org/). Much less pain, producing a working result!

I will create a #GitLab repo which will contain both, the esp-open-sdk I used and my adapted release of #cpm8266. I will also include the Pasmo assembler (source).

👆
So eventually anyone interested in building a few #WittyBoards containing a full-blown #CPM system (ideal #XMas gift for nerdy collegues) can use that repo as a base. It's real fun as you can customize the disk images and content being flashed to the #ESP8266
