It was supposed to be poetry art night at the library but pretty quickly I became obsessed with combining this Owl with a pug.

The briefest of glances within this dream show the improbability of your situation.
The shift of your focus, questionable.

#AliExpress / cheap #Chinese goods / #questionable sellers, part 37:
1. Order #rechargeable 3-speed folding desk #fan.
2. Receive different version of same fan - no #electronics, no #battery, just a USB lead, it runs at one speed when plugged in, unplug it to turn off.
3. File "item not as described" ticket with photos clearly showing it's the wrong item.
4. AliExpress rejects ticket, the human who spent 0.3s reviewing it didn't read it and just clicked "#reject".
5. Edit #photos, adding big red "NO BATTERY HERE -->" and "NO ELECTRONICS HERE -->" etc and resubmit ticket.
6. AliExpress accepts claim this time. Get refund.
7. Place order for same rechargeable fan from different #seller.
8. Receive fan. #Charge. Give to partner.
"It turns off after a few seconds", she says.
Take it apart. Examine the circuit board, #probe it various ways, all looks good. #Measure #voltages. Manually #power the fan and see it draws half an #amp. See the suspiciously undersized lithium-ion #cell and think "they didn't just #cheap out so much that the thing doesn't work, did they?"...
Yup. The plastic casing has a slot & tabs arrangement inside sized for an 18650 cell, but they've got a much smaller cell in there with some padding to keep it in place. It's a 14500.
When the fan's on, the load is too much for the cell. The voltage drops enough that the little 3-speed management #chip thinks the cell is flat, and it turns off.
Put in a good 18650, runs like a charm.
Sheesh.
Guilty pleasure: reading the OSM discord #questionable-edits channel .... and seeing all these mistakes in mapping for which I lack experience myself.
Very educational tho ...

I'm probably coming back soon, as things in my personal life are finally dialing back down. Here's a quick sketch I did while thinking about things. The censor isn't covering too much yet, as I didn't want to detail their 'distinctive features' before coloring.
TIL that Helm sub-charts cannot specify dependencies on each other or the order of operation they are installed in.
For example, you need a simple PHP app that relies on nginx for load balancing and SQL with some preseeded data or schema applied. It's not possible to purely state dependencies such that PHP must wait for both nginx and SQL. SQL must wait for Flyway to pull what it needs from GitHub and initialize that database, but nginx has to let cert-manager do its' thing first ... and so on and so forth.
Instead, health checks and init containers handle that by failing and retrying until the conditions for success are met ... the grey-bearded sysadmin in me feels this is cludgey, but also dreads a return to PID lockfiles and load-bearing sleep statements.

So yeah, Python 2 is still hanging around. It's not expedient to rewrite things for a short-lived demo or reusing exploit code. Luckily, pip still works - just need to use the Python Package Authority's archive.
curl https://bootstrap.pypa.io/pip/2.7/get-pip.py -o get-pip.py
sudo python2.7 get-pip.py
sudo python2.7 -m pip install requests
This works fantastically in a devcontainer or a virtual machine to keep it isolated from my regular Python environment.

Story idea: science to make two people fall in love.
IDK if I'll ever write this under a name that can be connected to my IRL/scholarly identity, because it would technically be #erotica and I would prefer to keep anything like that separate, but I've been thinking about this for years:
Two people *want* to be in #love with each other because they're a perfect match--basically soulmates--but not physically attracted to each other.
So they go full #science nerd on this problem: Operation Get Attracted. There's a very awkward period where they admit they aren't physically attracted to each other (but feel/think so much of each other in other ways), then on with the program. Their goal is to boost #romance and #attraction so those feelings fall in line with their non-sexual/non-romantic feelings, and with their intellectual appraisal of each other.
They get scholarly, trying things from group dynamics #research, intergroup relations theories, social identity theory, sociobiology, and (lots of) classical and operant conditioning. Other fields, too, if I can think of them. They do conditioning trials, imaginal work, meditation, parasocial activities, drugs, hacking their social networks--anything that might make them truly fall for each other in the hubba-hubba realm. And of course they collect and analyze their own #data.
I'm a #romantic so I would write this so it works out for them, one way or another.
But not this week. I'm very busy.
