Here's the article I was working on today, and the first I've written for The Register in a hot minute: a look at a new, generated-from-actual-1980s-hardware, 1.5-million-strong test suite for the Intel 286 and compatibles.

In 2025. Yes. Emulator devs are a different breed, I tell you, and we're all the richer for 'em.

The Register · Vintage computing boffin releases expansive Intel 286 test suiteBy Gareth Halfacree

I'm taking just a quick sneak peek at the latest 86Box nightly build. I'm really looking forward to the official release v5.0.0 in a few weeks. The emulation does feel super smooth and the new 86Box VM Manager already looks beautiful.

EmuReady is a nice little site which was set up for users to report compatibility for ROMs running via #emulation

They've just reached over 1,000 reports!

Sure, its kinda niche - but for #gaming which favors SBC retro handhelds, its a nice one-stop-shop to find out 𝘦𝘹𝘢𝘤𝘵𝘭𝘺 what settings will work with your operating system, on a game you love!

I love these little projects, because the people behind them are so dedicated to what they love :)

Just updated iGame for Amiga to the latest version 2.6.0. Really useful when dealing with lots of WHDLoad game containers. I'm grateful to the developer to keep working on this gem for the classic Amiga Workbench 3.x in 2025.
