Add even a little Hebrew, and your visit transforms from tourist to true cultural explorer. 🇮🇱✨

Having discussed "fjärd", here's another landscape feature that's super common around Stockholm but apparently nowhere in the #English-speaking world: "häll". It's an almost horizontal, smooth, slightly convex expanse of gneiss or granite bedrock. It's what's left of a taller outcrop after the inland ice has ground it down. Maybe there's a #Scots word for it?

#English word entrance: Diffuse. Easily confused with a door, appearing on a stage, or someone throwing someone into a trance. Not clear that it's an entrance for a vehicle. You didn't even know that's what I meant.

#Swedish word infart: In ([directional] in) + fart (speed/journey).

Much clearer.

Clanker wanker.

Slopper.

Unthinker.

Which is your favorite term for somebody who won’t do their work, relies on thieving generative AI to make garbage that another person has to completely fix anyway?

#English word archipelago = Derived from the Italian arcipelago, used as a proper name for the Aegean Sea, itself perhaps a deformation of the Greek Αιγαίον Πέλαγος. Later, usage shifted to refer to the Aegean Islands since the sea has a large number of islands.

Way too complex, detached and weird.

#Swedish word skärgård = Skär (skerry) + gård (yard). Skerry yard.

Much better.

There was a military expert on the ABC this morning, talking about the AUKUS/AUKMIN stuff and the probability of the US not fulfilling the contract for the subs they've agreed to delivering.

He was talking about the fact that the US is unable to even fulfil domestic contracts at the moment, and said that us shipyards are "a complete cluster-fiasco".

.."cluster-fiasco" will now be adopted into my vocabulary.
