Hyvää Neurodiversity Pride Dayta!
Minun versioni neurodiversiteettiparadigman keskeisistä käsitteistä sovitettuna yhteen A4-sivuun. Lähteenä viime torstaina julkaistu oikeustieteen pro gradu -tutkielmani. Alt-tekstin jatko kommentissa.

Just because you’ve been told something over and over doesn’t make it true.
It's true what they say, that #AuDHD is different from having either one or the other. The two interact, deeply and intimately. To the point where they create a sort of hybrid of the 2 conditions.
Ring any bells?

Most DEI conversations overlook one thing: not all diversity is visible.
Cognitive diversity — the way people think, solve problems, communicate — is often ignored until it becomes a “performance issue.”

We’ll explore how to recognize, support, and benefit from invisible diversity.

I appreciated a *nuanced radio hour* on autism --
there is autism, a clinical diagnosis;
there is autism as used in social media. This one resonates with identity.
The title of the episode was topical and mislead me --
"What Robert F Kennedy ...."
I wish you all the best on your Journey of peeling back the layers of gunk that society and family and other people have put on you.
I need a synonyme for #neurodiversity (a management order banned the "d" word from official material and I have to make a presentation about inclusion soon... but "politics" forbid the word "diversity"in ANY context.
My brain's been serving up some real darkness lately.
(And when an #ActuallyAutistic brain latches onto something, it COMMITS )
So I'm reminding myself that in this world (especially at this time) #Autistic Joy
is an act of defiant resistance.
And I'll be damned if I don't remember to stand in awe of all I've weathered, and of our #neurodivergent culture as a whole.
“What would it look like if neurodivergent people didn’t have to mask?”
That’s not a rhetorical question — it’s one of the most powerful team-building exercises you can do.

We’ll talk masking, burnout, retention — and how to build teams that don’t rely on conformity.

I speak with Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, Janelle Johnson, about #disability justice, #neurodiversity, and the societal perceptions surrounding disability.
Naturally, we touch on joy and rest as essential components of #resistance and #resilience amidst rising #fascism
We’re proud to sponsor this thoughtful piece by @vitalyf for @smashingmag on designing for neurodiversity.
Good design considers how people think - not just how they see, hear, or move.

I think that for a lot of people, what they mean when they say that they want you to be honest with them, is that they don’t want you to lie to them.
Because we’ve all had experiences in life where we’ve been duped, and it feels terrible. And they don’t want that terrible feeling again.
"High-functioning means your deficits are ignored, low-functioning means your assets are ignored" – Laura Tisoncik.
This perfectly captures the impossible bind created by functioning labels. Through my work developing inclusive education frameworks while navigating multiple disabilities, I see what's possible when we centre lived experience over arbitrary categories.

I find that when there’s something that you want to do, and you can do it, you don’t need an external, artificially imposed accountability partner getting on your case about it.
Feeling a little proud and a lot grateful!
If you're curious about neurodiversity, creativity, or life on the spectrum, maybe this is a gentle companion for your holiday.
