Adam H. Sparks :rstats:<p>Been using Safari Technology Preview for a while now and it's not yet let me down until just yesterday. Yesterday's update brought a bug that stops any interaction with anything inside the address bar. The close button doesn't work, refresh doesn't work and you can't highlight and copy the URL. Of course, cmd+R refreshes and cmd+W closes but still annoying. Confirmed on my personal Mac mini and my work MacBook. <a href="https://rstats.me/tags/Apple" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Apple</span></a> <a href="https://rstats.me/tags/SafariBrowser" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>SafariBrowser</span></a></p>
Nathaniel Daught<p>I was trying to sign in to my Adobe account to use Behance for job hunting, but the site login seems totally broken… So I went to try logging in from Adobe.com, but the site doesn’t even load with Safari on Mac.</p><p>Adobe.com works fine with Vivaldi (Chromium)... So I guess we’re back to the IE6 era of only supporting the monopoly browser? Maybe they are still bitter about Apple killing Flash?</p><p><a href="https://social.lol/tags/Adobe" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Adobe</span></a> <a href="https://social.lol/tags/SafariBrowser" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>SafariBrowser</span></a> <a href="https://social.lol/tags/Chromium" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Chromium</span></a> <a href="https://social.lol/tags/Vivaldi" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Vivaldi</span></a> <a href="https://social.lol/tags/Browsers" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Browsers</span></a></p>
Estelle Platini<p>Here are comments on the evolution of browser share in a year.<br />(The three samples are heavily skewed to English-speaking higher eds.)<br />Last year results: <a href="https://techhub.social/@estelle/112047924116566034" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener" translate="no"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">techhub.social/@estelle/112047</span><span class="invisible">924116566034</span></a><br />You may still answer in the previous toot.</p><p>3/4 Fediverse members use <a href="https://techhub.social/tags/Firefox" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>Firefox</span></a> proper. Same as last year.<br />We welcome other parts of the Firefox family (any browser with Gecko inside):<br />• The share of Librewolf mentions doubled since last year.<br />• The share of other Gecko-based forks mentions also doubled since last year. (Even though some Waterfox usage is not logged because i did not list it.)</p><p>The shares of Chrome and Vivaldi were stable for the first thousand answerers (maybe more IT inclined) but doubled with the later thousand (in the last 24 hours).</p><p>The share of the last line (Opera-Blink-Brave mentions) decreased since last year.</p><p><a href="https://techhub.social/tags/browsers" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>browsers</span></a> <a href="https://techhub.social/tags/webDev" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>webDev</span></a> <a href="https://techhub.social/tags/poll" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>poll</span></a> <a href="https://techhub.social/tags/browserPoll" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>browserPoll</span></a> <a href="https://techhub.social/tags/compartments" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>compartments</span></a> <a href="https://techhub.social/tags/Safari" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>Safari</span></a> <a href="https://techhub.social/tags/SafariBrowser" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>SafariBrowser</span></a> <a href="https://techhub.social/tags/Librewolf" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>Librewolf</span></a> <a href="https://techhub.social/tags/Chrome" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>Chrome</span></a> <a href="https://techhub.social/tags/Vivaldi" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>Vivaldi</span></a> <a href="https://techhub.social/tags/VivaldiBrowser" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>VivaldiBrowser</span></a> <a href="https://techhub.social/tags/Edge" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>Edge</span></a> <a href="https://techhub.social/tags/EdgeBrowser" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>EdgeBrowser</span></a> <a href="https://techhub.social/tags/ungoogledChromium" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>ungoogledChromium</span></a> <a href="https://techhub.social/tags/ungoogled" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>ungoogled</span></a> <a href="https://techhub.social/tags/Chromium" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>Chromium</span></a> <a href="https://techhub.social/tags/Brave" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>Brave</span></a> <a href="https://techhub.social/tags/BraveBrowser" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>BraveBrowser</span></a></p>

To the Safari team's credit, their link capturing ability to open webpages in the respective web app works remarkably well. Even between web apps it does it correctly. The occasional hiccup typically makes sense too, like if there's a subdomain, or there's a URL redirect involved with a different domain (like protected links from Outlook(dot)com email). #macOS #safaribrowser

On #Mastodon I use the "advanced web interface" in ⚙️ to display lists, home feed, and followed hashtags in a multi-column layout in a computer browser (Vivaldi).

But when I use Fediverse in the browser on mobile, I switch to normal view owing to the multi-column view being illegible on small screen because the browser (#iOS with #SafariBrowser ) doesn't automatically create scroll bars.

Do you use advanced web view? And do you also use it on mobile – in which browser?

Do mobile apps display followed hashtags in the home feed, too?
Do mobile apps support multi-column layout?

The ad also has some strong Hitchcock vibes: “As a general rule, if you have to explain why people should care about your product or feature, you should do it in as simple a way as possible. That's what this ad does. Also, if you can make them laugh (even if it's only because your ad is over the top and a little goofy), that helps.”
