(I built a #RetroFuturistic #DitherPunk weather display screen/temperature display in #Slint, for those who didn't see the top of the thread).
More broadly; I cannot find a way to cross compile #Slint to Raspberry Pi, using any Linux-based backend. Even using the ”batteries included” cross-rs approach.
If anyone is interested, I did end up compiling it on the Raspberry Pi itself, which takes literally hours from scratch.
Some findings for my super straightforward #Slint project:
- I can’t get any of the framebuffer versions working.
- Framebuffer can’t be cross compiled due to uuuhh depending on libudev-sys
- Winit and Xorg can’t be cross compiled due to dependencies on Waylsnd and Xorg. Trying Wayland compiles, but probably has mismatched libraries.
- Only local build w/ defaults works.

I am currently writing a #ratatui frontend, but I also plan to implement a #slint frontend.
And I am making pretty good progress right now. Maybe I get to a point where one can actually look at email content by sunday afternoon. 
We released #Slint 1.12.1 with bug fixes, small improvements, and binaries for Windows on ARM.

With no changes to the Slint code you can now generate an Xcode project and run applications like the Home Automation demo on an iPad or iPhone.
Shipping soon as an early developer preview as part of Slint 1.12.

І навіть клієнтська NTP бібліотека - можна автоматично встановлювати системний час після підключення до WiFi мережі. Також є працюючий http клієнт, правда ще не тестував https.

My #iPhone15Pro keeps running hot! sometimes, it gets so hot I can't even put it to my ear. I have to talk to whoever I'm on the phone with on speaker because it's just to hot to hold. thankfully though, that last part hasn't occurred in a while. the strange part is that #Voiceover has never informed me that my phone is to hot to use. To that end, I called #Appleaccessibility last night & the advisor I spoke with was extremely kind & helpful. She advised that I restore it, which I haven't done in a few months & now may actually be a good time since #WWDC2025 is coming up on 6/9/2025 & I'm one of Apple's faithful #BetaTesters. I love doing it & it helps create better software for all, since it has less bugs than it otherwise would, if no one in the disability community, especially, those of us who are #Blind, #VisuallyImpaired or #deaf-blind beta tests & reports bugs, Apple won't know where to focus its #Accessibility efforts, which I firmly believe we should all strive to help with, on this #GlobalAccessibilityAwarenessDay! Everyone with any kind of disability should test this stuff. The more testers, the better the public release in the fall will be.
To that end, what's everyone's favorite cross-platform web browser? I'm seeking something which works across, #ApplePlatforms, #Android & #linux, speciffically, #Slackware, as I'm using #Slint which is a dirivitive of #Slackware, designed specifically for the #Blind & #VisuallyImpaired. Well crap. Tried Slint, but it like, uses Alsa and doesn't have sound drivers for my main sound card, and using a USB sound card, well it broke after I saved Orca settings. Not even a restart fixed it. Meh. Ah well. Linux breaks.

So, I'm about to try Slint! Thanks to @JessDail for reminding me about it. Except this time I'm going to try it in a VM because I do not want a repeat of the Fedora incident from a week ago. Ugh.
@puffer I definitely recommend it. The lore around #Slint is mysterious & unsettling. It’s also hard to believe how young they were when they made Spiderland. Friday night = movie night. #IanMacKaye is in it too.
