So I see this news story about Robert Kennedy Jr saying that HHS will determine the cause of #autism by this September and in the picture he is standing in front of a box of beautiful orange bell peppers 🌶️ and I am like, of course he is going to blame bell peppers. It makes as much sense as anything else. But really they are going to finger #vaccines. No evidence of any cause exists scientifically, but #gaslighting is going to solve it by September.

I worked in public health with vaccines for 10 years. I worked hard to ensure that the publlc, first responders, and medical providers had as much information about vaccines as possible. I changed a few minds and got people on board by giving them facts and reassurances, and became a trusted source of information. (All the while, having to deal with the bogus information that RFK, Jr. and others were spreading.) We actually went through a pertussis outbreak back then that killed 2 babies here in Texas.

What we have right now is a population of people who are, basically, ignorant and proud of it, which is also reflected in our president and federal government. It's sickening in more ways than one.

After a vaccine was introduced shortly before I was born in 1950, the incidence in the US declined by 90%+.

And now it's back, and its reappearance is directly related to vaccine refusal — that is, to people's willingness to believe nonsense and lies, and to show utter disdain for the common good in doing so.

Talk about a society choosing self-destruction, choosing suicide.

But now also whooping cough, which has now caused the death of two babies in Louisiana, and deaths in Washington state, Idaho, and South Dakota after two deaths in Oregon last year.

In my childhood, I heard stories from the generations prior to me about how serious whooping cough had been for children in their growing-up years, and how children sometimes died of it.

Not just measles, which was considered eradicated in the US by 2000 — but is on the rebound due to the refusal of people to vaccinate and to protect their children by having them vaccinated.
