Demolishing a bale of lucerne. #alpacas #wiltipoll #lambs

My knee was in a brace all night, so on waking I had some more mobility than yesterday.

I fed the boys just as the sun appeared over the trees. I’m still stuck on this side of the fence until my knee allows me out back, but I’m a decent lucerne brick thrower. lol.

I'm out with the boys this morning, cleaning water troughs & filling them again.

The #Wiltipoll lambs this afternoon.

Sam the #Wiltipoll #ram #lamb came home with me today. He'll settle in for a few weeks before meeting the younger #ewes. Two wether weaner lambs will keep him company until then.

Wow! The woolly ones must have had a #thirst yesterday!

I thought this morning would just be a top up of the water troughs, but both were well down.

So I emptied, cleaned, filled them both for today’s forecast hot weather.

They followed me around thinking I had feed on me but I didn’t feed them until after the watering. #alpacas #lambs #Wiltipoll

The #MudBrothers & #Wiltipoll #lambs were fed & watered earlier.

There’s still so much #thistle out there!

The transplanted to potting mix bags #JerusalemArtichoke didn’t like the 35° #Celsius we eventually got to yesterday.

This morning they’ve been given a good soaking & are starting to recover.

It might hit 37° or 38° today, so I’ll check through the day.

The #Mudbrothers & the #Wiltipoll #lambs water troughs both went down around 5 inches overnight!

Troughs have been topped up & the #alpacas & #sheep have been fed.

The town’s #CFA #fire #siren went earlier, but I think it’s just a drill.

#Wiltipoll #lambs & the #MudBrothers have been fed & watered.

I spread 8 bricks around the paddock just in case the #alpacas tried to keep the bricks to themselves.

I haven’t seen them do this, but just in case.

Then, coming into the front yard, I lost my balance & fell into a rose bush!

Sigh.

The sheep - lamb I should say - on the left, you can see tufts of fleece coming off.

That’s the deal with pure #Wiltipoll - no shearing required.

The sheep seem to think the alpacas are just big sheep - while the alpacas have come to the conclusion that these new beasts are harmless.

I hung waaaaay back so I wouldn’t get Chaser all defensive.

About 9am tomorrow my better half & a friend of hers who owns a small horse float, will be headed off to the wilds of #Romsey to pick up our twin wethers.

My body has been seizing up throughout the day, so I’ll be holding the fort while the ladies venture onto a property that is supposed to be infested with #redbelliedblack #snakes!

And at 5:31pm, I’m off to sleep.

I want to buy a new #stocktrough.

I don’t NEED to buy one, but with the #Wiltipoll #sheep arriving next month, I thought it might be a good idea to add to our existing water supply for them & the #alpacas.

I previously bought from a Bendigo firm but that business has now gone.

My local #produce store doesn’t sell them & online the price seems unreasonable - upwards of AUS$400! That’s not counting delivery, which seems to average around $125!

Looking for about 200 litre capacity.

Hmmm.
