🚀 #Scrumtisch #Cologne: Valuable Insights for Our #Research on the #AgileMindset
(Deutsche Version unten)

Last week, I had the opportunity to facilitate an Open Space session at Scrumtisch Cologne, where I shared insights about our new research on the agile mindset, conducted in collaboration with Christiaan Verwijs from #Columinity.

After a brief scientific introduction, I presented our new research model, which builds upon the work of other researchers (e.g., Kristin Geffers, Necmettin Özkan, Tabea Augner, Prof. Dr. Carsten C. Schermuly, Christoph Peters).

💡 Many questions remain open:
➡️ What factors support the development of an agile mindset?
➡️ What obstacles stand in the way?
➡️ Is the agile mindset an individual trait, or can it develop at the team level?
➡️ Does everyone on the team need to have an agile mindset?
➡️ How does an agile mindset impact team effectiveness and morale?

We immediately tested our #survey to validate the new research model. Thanks to the valuable #feedback, we can further refine both the model and the survey.

🙏 A huge thank you to all participants for the insightful exchange – during the session, before, and after! It's always amazing to immerse myself in the agile community in Cologne.

🎉 Thanks to #mobilezone Deutschland for hosting!

PS: By participating in the study, you won’t win a washing machine, you don’t need an account, and no credit card is required. Just give it a try! You'll get your results immediately, along with some tips on how to use them. Christiaan and I are always happy for feedback!

"Such “laws” thus are really rules of thumb, statistical regularities that admit many exceptions and variations. Why do such regularities exist at all? Do they represent something unique to the number of species on islands? Or are they the natural consequences of a set of local rules of interaction that are common to a whole class of #ComplexAdaptiveSystems [...]?" [1]

“Me hace sentir triste y ansioso”

Here’s a (low-res) snapshot from SWIM model. Cogs represent science modules. The main cause-effect loop goes clockwise, from #demography through to #climate, but some #feedbacks cut across. Adjust any parameter (of ~250), and plots respond immediately, showing relative sensitivity to options and uncertainties. (Note: plots are SVG - wish we could post #svg directly to mastodon, more efficient for graphics - open the model with a big screen, try how it zooms - swim.benmatthews.eu

"Over the past 20 years, wetland methane emissions have risen by 1.2-1.4m tonnes per year. This is faster than the average projection under the most pessimistic emission scenario (RCP8.5), which shows growth of 0.9m tonnes of methane per year.

The paper “adds further weight to conclusions made in many other recent studies that #methane emissions associated with #wetlands are rising fast in response to positive #climate #Feedbacks "

Carbon Brief‘Exceptional’ surge in methane emissions from wetlands worries scientists - Carbon BriefMethane emissions from wetlands have risen faster this century than in even the most pessimistic climate scenarios, new research finds.

Proponents of capitalism and economic libertarianism are constantly demagoguing that world conditions are "better than ever."

Every year this gets more false. Particularly because fossil fueled climate change is wiping out prior gains.

Growth in renewable energy has reduced the increase in temperature in the past 5 years. But we're still far off track from meeting #climate goals. Runaway climate #feedbacks are still a looming threat.

#Capitalism is the disease, and can never be the cure.
