making good English
I am once again begging all y'all to learn and apply the difference between the three words below. Not because I'm a grammar hammer, but because clear communication is important.
I. regime = a heavy-handed government or administration
II. regimen = a highly structured practice
III. regiment =
1. (noun:) a military unit
2. (verb:) to systematize

Behold, the privacy-obsessed #grammar #tool for people who believe the #cloud is just a fancy term for data theft

Who knew grammar checking could be so paranoid, yet boastful?

Nathaly Haeren has seen patios in Sydney collapse because brown rats have tunnelled under and created sinkholes. She’s been electrocuted in the roof of a house after they chewed through air conditioning wiring. She’s even visited a hairdresser where they’d gnawed a circle through double brick.Oh the pain, the pain. What do words actually mean?

People often point out various grammatical errors in texts people write. As if having better attention to words makes the argument presented more or less valid. So I suppose I'm gonna rant about this.

It’s pretty annoying when someone writes “apart of” instead of “a part of”.
“Apart of” reads like “apart from”, which is almost the opposite of “a part of”.
If you want to go back to a better time, stop using "impact" as verb.

I'm a sloppy writer and I know a million typos and other flecks get left in my trail because I read things sometimes later and think wtf did I...
It’s annoying, because I'm the sort who edits a just-sent 1-1 text to fix a 'lets' with the other one.
Can the grammar check be turned off in Outlook Web Access? From what I can tell it... can't. KBs are out of date and I'm just not seeing an option.
You can turn off the predictive text and suggestions though.

As a lover of the em dash—and its little brother, the en dash—this really resonated with me. Take back our punctuation from the machines!
Time makes the past passive. You only have agency in the present since the future doesn’t exist.
#TIL a new-to-me word:
VILIPEND.
Isn't it delightful?!
It means "to express scornfully one's low opinion of" someone or something.
Example sentence:
I experience a likely unhealthy amount of Schadenfreude anytime I read an article or hear a report vilipending the fascist regime of vile misogynist and racist Donald Trump and his sycophantic ilk.
And there's your #WordOfTheDay, y'all. Happy learning!
