How KDE's clipboard Manager "Klipper" puts even Windows 11's clipboard to shame

Klipper features that Windows11 just doesn't have
- Expanded History Limit
- Automated Clipboard Actions
- Select-to-Copy
- File and Folder Storage
- QR Codes for Every Item
- Clipboard Text Editing
- (Customizable) Clipboard Shortcuts
- pinning items

Bonus item: Sharing your clipboard with your mobile device, with KDE connect

Ajajaj!

For anyone out there who’s having issues with their H36, Fabreeko let me know that they got a whole batch of unflashed boards that they’re now having to replace.

I don’t know whether it’s isolated to their batch or if other vendors got the same.

But not worth banging your head against the wall if it’s not working. It may not be your fault.

New to me: https://github.com/interias/RELAX

Relax is a #klipper macro that cools your bed to release the part from the bed then reheats the bed for a set period of time to allow the parts to destress, clearing up the white marks on the surface then cools fully down.

I would probably use TEMPERATURE_WAIT instead of M190 but it’s a simple enough macro to write yourself in your PRINT_END and the technique is something I’ll experiment with for my styrene printing.

#3dprinting update;
I'm super happy with my build. Unfortunately the upgrade path looks like it's going to force me into #Klipper which has never actually been good to me.

My build currently:

  • Ender5 chassis
  • #BTT #Octopus mainboard
  • Modded #Endorphin-- Meaning: Linear Rail conversion-- Partial CoreXY kinematics
  • #microswiss direct drive
  • Volcano hot end + 60w heater
  • 0.6mm #Diamondback volcano nozzle
  • MSDD modded heat break / mount
  • Hydra-based cooling solution
  • Dual independent Z-screws
  • BLTouch
  • Mains powered bed heater
  • Octopi

Like many before and similar to myself the Ender platform served as a wonderful platform to build and tinker on. As far as I can find, particularly with my custom work for the Volcano, this is a unique build. I looked at the traditional volcano options but I did not like the #klemco mount options nor the traditional volcano heat break. I was concerned about heat creep but I've seen no signs of it even when printing PC.

At this point I'm looking into the #Eddy bed level sensor, but it's klipper only. Otherwise there's almost nothing I can want from my printer that it cannot do. Multi-material would be nice but there's no good way to do it and MMS' are so damn wasteful. More print volume would be handy but that means changing a lot and I've got spare 235x bed plates for days. The Eddy makes bed leveling super fast and accurate, leagues beyond what a probe based sensor can do. But it also means being unable to come back to Marlin and lose a bit of print volume to the Eddy sensor. So I guess I'll see, if something comes along to convince me to suffer through Klipper's headaches.

@FeloniousPunk well it's pretty odd as a device, as it's basically a tablet in laptop form. I was kind of surprised that so much worked out of the box, including touch. But there's still a lot to tweak and I haven't been brave enough yet to undock the screen/tablet from what would be the deck of a normal device. It will make a neat controller for my #Klipper #CrealityEnder5 #3dprinter.

My printer has reached a usable state of functionality again. I

Everyone rags on #Marlin, but it's been good to me. Unlike #Klipper, I can consistently make it do what I want.

Last time I tried Klipper, it couldn't handle my movement system and so even homing was problematic.

But now I can print at 300mm/Sec and not overrun the hot end, so time to break things and try #klipper again. I guess.

Kind of a beginner #3Dprinting question: if I plan to control this Ender 5 with #Klipper, do I have to worry about the onboard firmware at all from Creality? Or do I just ignore it? For more context, it has an optional leveler but it's not installed yet. Do I have to tell the builtin firmware that the leveler exists?

I think the factory firmware is another open source firmware a lot of devices use I can't remember the name of offhand except, like everything, it was boat themed.
