One beautiful thing about Ethanol is that in moderate amounts it can be used in many fields;

Chemistry engineering mechanisms and of course also in the Corpus Humanus

Just make sure that you emphasize the moderate amounts when you use it in your Corpus

Enjoy these photographs of my current kruik {Jug} of Ethanol, which is used very sparingly

I usually make a personal note on my Mastodon client when I mute (or, more rarely, block) someone. The most common reason by far is "AI shill", followed by "spam" and "crank". Unfortunately, mastodon.social hosts a lot of this, so I can't just block the whole instance.

Just an fyi for toot.garden members, I am seeing more LGBTQ hate, and other stupid shit now that it is June. I don't like stupid shit. Stupid shit is stupid and nobody has time for some stupid shit.

That is to say, if you see any posts or comments that fall in the realm of stupid shit, report it! I've got reports pinned to my phone for on-the-go moderation, and usually can get to things within 30-40min if not sooner, or our lovely moderator Mona will beat me to it by a few minutes and make me jealous ;)

But yeah. If people are doing stupid shit, report it please, it helps a lot!

For Mastodon mods and admins…

Our team often wants to send messages to people who appeal moderation. Not to the level of starting a DM session, but just a simple note with the acceptance or rejection. Especially because our decisions are often complicated.

I’ve added a suggestion for this feature to the Mastodon repo. If you’d also love this, please give it a thumbs up.

Pitch Appeals are often complex, so approving or rejecting isn't always binary. Often our moderation team wants to approve with conditions or reject with additional reasoning based on what they sai...

:ClimateJusticeSocial: Question for members of climatejustice.social and climatejustice.global.

Would you be interested in a place for us to discuss topics concerning the two sibling servers internally?
I'm thinking of starting a #Discourse forum where we could:
* do community building
* brainstorm ideas for the instances and the Fediverse
* talk about our principles, rules, guidelines and moderation
* ask questions and help each other
* do whatever else we come up with

:discourse: discourse.org/ is a free libre forum software that is working on ActivityPub compatibility, meaning it is/will be part of the Fediverse, able to federate topics and categories with other Discourse forums, #lemmy and possibly Mastodon and lots of other parts of the Fediverse.
For now you'd have to create an account on the forum to participate in discussions though.

I think it would be good for us, if more people were more involved in decisions and discussions about the instances as well as in community building and socializing.

What do you think?

Discourse - Civilized DiscussionDiscourse is the place to build civilized communitiesDiscourse is modern forum software for your community. Use it as a mailing list, discussion forum, long-form chat room, and more!

I'd like to formally announce that I have officially joined the #Fosstodon moderation team! I never imagined I'd be in this position, but I'm excited to help maintain a healthy and safe community. I'm eager to support a space where people can share their lives and interests and engage in meaningful interactions with like-minded individuals!

#Meta plans to replace #humans with #AI to assess risks

For years, when Meta launched new features for #Instagram, #WhatsApp & #Facebook, teams of reviewers evaluated possible risks: Could it violate users' #privacy? Could it cause harm to #minors? Could it worsen the spread of #misinformation or toxic #content?

Until recently, what are known inside Meta as privacy & #integrity reviews were conducted almost entirely by human evaluators.

#LLM tech is about to kill anything where people are able to contribute:

The Future of #Comments is Lies, I Guess
aphyr.com/posts/388-the-future

"I strongly suspect the only reason #Mastodon hasn’t been eaten alive by LLM #spambots is because we’re just not big enough to be lucrative. But those economics are shifting, and even obscure ecological niches can be worth filling."

Back to Web 1.0? 🤨😞

I've just been invited in a private group on Matrix with the following:

  • clearly underage pornography as a group picture;
  • anti trans and homophobic slurs in the title, plus mentions of cat torture pics.

Needless to say, the correct reaction requires these exact steps:

  • "what the actual fuck?!";
  • "no seriously, what the actual fuck?!";
  • ban/federation severance (depending on the platform)

Now, just to be clear, not everyone is an admin or a moderator so the third step may be substituted by a personal block. While this is correct altogether, please remember to open a report / signal the fact to your staff of competence too, to help said staff prevent this kind of shit for other users.

This has happened on Matrix, but could have happened in every other platform of choice.

Please help us help others be safer.
You're not alone here.

US #visa policy targets foreign nationals who 'censor' Americans -State Dept

"It is unacceptable for foreign officials to issue or threaten arrest warrants on US citizens or US residents for #socialmedia posts on American platforms while physically present on US soil," Secretary of State #MarcoRubio said in a statement. He said it was "similarly unacceptable" for foreign officials to demand content #moderation from American #tech platforms.
