So, something I am in the process of considering and mapping out a timescale for.
In the last year, I played through all the retail home console ports of Doom.

But do you know what else had a buttload of ports?
Duke Nukem 3D (and Quake, but let's focus on the former).

Duke Nukem Total Meltdown is a pretty decent port of classic Duke 3D. I am not as au fait with Duke 3D as I am with Doom. But as far as I could tell, everything is intact and plays with only a couple of control issues and some minor crashes!

Saving the game is also a bit of a pain, as saves can take a variable amount of blocks, and whilst there are three save slots, you might find you can't use all three simultaneously.

This version of Duke 3D also comes with a bunch of new levels, in a new episode called Plug N Pray! But I want to talk about those levels separately.

I had a good time with this version of Duke 3D, even if the Mini-Battle Lords gave me an additional colons.

Finished my #ITXLlama builds today. Built around the #Chieftec BT-02 case, it features the ITX Llama motherboard, a #Radeon 9250 and a #3dprinted front control panel I designed with #OLED display, rotary encoder and buttons for the #MT32Pi. Also a much needed reset button, a switch to select either the MT32-pi or GS WaveTable audio and an SD slot. The software needs a bit of tweaking, but this could be an awesome and brand new box for playing #90s era #MSDOS and #Windows98 games. So far it plays #DukeNukem3D flawlessly with #GeneralMIDI sound.

Finally got the big one back in the collection! Now with that and Terminal Velocity, I’m missing but the last one of the holy trio - Rise of the Triad - which happens to be on the way already 😅

I never set out to start collecting retro big boxes but this seems to suggest that I’m way past that point..

I'm planning on #GoingLive in about half an hour to finish the #DukeNukem3D playthrough I started last week. Just have the third episode to finish, which'll probably take around 2 hours.

Still playing the original 3-episode DOS version on vintage hardware. If you notice little bluish-white sparkles in the video, that's my poor S3 ViRGE/GX2 on its last legs. I'll be replacing it after this. Come join me and help give it an honorable sendoff. 🫡

YouTube said I hadn't uploaded a video in a number of months...

So, here is the Duke Nukem 3D soundtrack (1996) I recorded from a REAL Roland Sound Canvas SC-55 Mark 2!

Enjoy. It's a soundtrack where every level has a dedicated music track! That's a LOT of music.

How I #misheard these #DukeNukem3D quotes back when I didn't speak English:
"Groovy!": "Movie!"
"Gonna rip 'em a new one!": "Nuke-nuke 'em a new one!"
"Nobody steals our chicks and lives": "Nobody here are [is] six - any[body] lives?"
"See you in hell!": /siː ˈjuːɣən hel/ - sounded like German and I had no idea what it meant.
"Let God sort 'em out!": /ˈɡɑːtsurɑnɑu̯t/ - again, no idea what it meant.

Never did an #introductions post!
