AnyDice is among my favourite websites of all time. I've been using it to calculate dice probabilities for many years. Thanks so much for making it, @catlikecoding

PennedPossibilities, Voidfront, Worldbuilding, long dialogue
I'm making a simple but consequential rules change to Roar of Alliance, my game of WW2 Tank Combat).
I'm cutting the number of starting vehicles the players select from 2 down to 1.
I originally designed it with 2 player vehicles because:
1. @stras 's Atlas Reckoning, which I borrowed heavily from, gave a spare mech.
2. I thought it would be fun to let players try out more different vehicle strategies (e.g., big firepower vs extreme mobility).
"Start the tutorial?"
> no
*an entirely different Materia Tutorial pops up right after*
Reminds me of #kirby on #Snes.
It has TWO tutorials for Copy.
It asks if you want to view a tutorial for Copy.
You say "No."
It plays a tutorial--but a different, *shoter* tutorial than if you said, no.
I think the running theory is they made two different tutorials and just wanted to put both in the game lmao
Pathless, redux: I went and posted my impressions of The Pathless in a Steam review, and went and looked through a fair few of the others while I was at it.
There's a clear pattern.
People who love the game cite its visuals, its atmosphere, its exploration, its puzzles, the simple elegance of its gameplay, its entire vibe.
Almost without exception, people who dislike the game consistently blame one and only one thing: Its godawful, repetitive, boring boss fights.
There is a lesson to be learned here.

I wrote a blog post on the economy in my video game: https://bluespruceinteractive.com/blog/4-video-game-economy/
It's long. There are a lot of moving parts, and I wanted to explain my interwoven reasoning for all of it. (Don’t we all.) But I think it’s now at least coherent. It explains a lot of decisions about specific gameplay mechanics, and the experiences I hope they produce.
The gist is that it’s an eco-socialist or communitarian economic system. Resources are shared by the town as a whole, via a community land trust. Housing is free, and there’s a universal basic income that’s really each person’s share of harvestable resources the local ecosystem can support.
Keeping resources for one’s own use long-term, above a comfortable base level, incurs a usage fee in maker credits, paid to the community. Maker credits reward not only farming and crafting, but also disassembling and composting. Demand is facilitated by social rewards.
I’d welcome any thoughts!
Morning ride = #GameDesign time!Working on Haunted West: Prosperity, my scenario “Are You Going My Way?”
Wrote it for the Kickstarter… and challenged myself: No supernatural.
(Okay okay, I did sneak in a few #WeirdWest options in the margins. )

PennedPossibilities, Voidfront, lots of lore about happenings in the galaxy
One of my latest board game designs is not able to be digitally prototyped with existing options due to the physics involved so I am attempting to learn Godot to at least setup a basic sandbox for it.
My end goal is to be playable in browser with a handful of tables to choose from for playing and spectating.
#PennedPossibilities 29. MC POV: Write a quick “Thank You” note to someone.
Hey, thanks for letting us crash in your pod. Sorry about the window though. I think the fire damage was very minor but we left you a cred chip anyway. Don’t spend it all at once. See ya next time when we’re around!
PS: You might need to re-stock your fridge (sorry).
PPS: We might have possibly maybe thrown your building manager in the garbage disposal chute. We assume they might have survived that, if so, just say you got robbed and have no idea who these delinquents were or something. Luckily, your door is also broken, so that would check out.
