My next review was for one of my favorite places in the city, Mohingā in Humānyūnpur. I had to cut a few details from my draft to fit into Mangrove Reviews’ 999 character limit.

My first review was Mr. Littīwālā in Mandāwalī, but I unwittingly submitted it as an anonymous review. Hopefully everyone can see it’s me from the writing style

Been adding restaurant ratings and reviews to Mangrove Reviews @mangroveReviews using MapComplete @MapComplete
I’ve written 6 so far, and there’s more to come! Plenty of WIP drafts to finish
This really plays to my strengths, combining my love for
If you like my open data reviews and photos, please support me on Liberapay! I need to be able to afford eating out to continue reviewing
PS MapComplete currently removes all line breaks from the reviews it displays (which breaks things like paragraphs and bullet lists), and Mangrove Reviews truncates the text of the reviews it displays. So there’s no perfect way to view the reviews right now…I’ve let the developers know about these issues and they will hopefully fix them soon.
Inviting the #Fediverse to join another #Jabber / #XMPP channel I co-moderate - the Personal Protective Equipment channel. #PPE
Protect yourself from hazardous substances, #pollution, diseases ( #CovidIsNotOver !), #surveillance, police oppression, and other threats. Or maybe just look cool and cyberpunk.
Discuss cloth #masks, surgical masks, filtering facepiece (FFP) #respirators, reusable #elastomeric respirators (half-face or full-face), source control, powered air purifying respirators (PAPRs), and more!
Discussion of #EyeProtection, #HearingProtection, #HeadProtection and similar also welcome!
You can join without a client or an account. Just visit chat.queer-spark.org/#/guest?join=ppe@conference.queer-spark.org
But for the best experience, I recommend using a proper client. The easiest way is to install Quicksy or Prāv, if you don’t mind using your phone number.
Otherwise, install one or more of the following, and use them to register an account on conversations.im (see providers.xmpp.net or compliance.conversations.im/old for more server recommendations) -

@dgar Love the variety of synonyms for "died"
Lessons to be learned -
• Boycott #proprietary software - use #FreedomRespecting software (a.k.a. #Libre / #OpenSource / #FreeSoftware) which is free of corporate control, and
• Boycott #centralized services - use #federated services so you aren't locked into one service.
#XMPP is still around, and thriving.

@simon Ideally, one would #SelfHost, on one's own terms. And if one moves to Codeberg (which uses #FreedomRespecting Forgejo), one still has the benefit of easily being able to move to a self-hosted Forgejo later. That's not so easy with GitHub and its mountain of proprietary features.
Thus, self-hosting is best. Community-run instances like @Codeberg and @disroot come second. And #proprietary platforms are a plague.

On the train ride back from Patna (#BiharFOSS), @ravi and I sardonically thanked Trump for the state of things in the US, which may have been why #GitHub disabled the #OrganicMaps repo and forced them to move to #FreedomRespecting #Forgejo.
"This will hopefully teach people why it's important to boycott #proprietary platforms. But why do people always wait around for such things to pass? #FreeSoftware activists had been warning them for like 10 years!" (Also...Sourceforge???)
Also, #FreeSoftware, #Libre / #OpenSource /mukt/āzād/swatantra software...all describe the effect on _the software_...that the software is freed from being private property. (We could even call it #Anarchist software )
That's good, but I'm more interested in describing the effect of such software on its _users_...hence, #FreedomRespecting software.
4/
But I expect "#FreedomRespecting software" to provoke the question, "How can software be freedom-respecting?" A bit like hearing "Nonviolent Communication" sparks the question, "How can communication be nonviolent? Is there also such a thing as violent communication?" and potentially engages you in learning.
We're not always there to explain or provoke questions ourselves, so something that may do so automatically is desirable...

People new to #FreeSoftware assume it's "free as in free beer". #OpenSource misses the point - it's about the freedom (and for so many in India, "open source" = "free as in free beer" ). #Libre is unfamiliar and not self-explanatory.
That's why I call it #FreedomRespecting software. Can we all please switch to that?
Friendly reminder that the opposite of #FreedomRespecting software is not "paid software" - there's plenty of software which is both
Conversations, Cheogram, Monocles Chat, and OsmAnd come to mind...any other examples?
@fsf Great little resource to see what hardware is comptible with #FreedomRespecting Software.
From what we could gather the trend is towards there being less and less good hardware available? Yes? How unfortunate.
That's indeed the experience we've seen in Australia, its on steroids.
