A quotation from Molière

TARTUFFE: Some joys, it’s true, are wrong in Heaven’s eyes;
Yet Heaven is not averse to compromise;
There is a science, lately formulated.
Whereby one’s conscience may be liberated,
And any wrongful act you care to mention
May be redeemed by purity of intention.
I’ll teach you. Madam, the secrets of that science;
Meanwhile, just place on me your full reliance.
Assuage my keen desires, and feel no dread:
The sin, if any, shall be on my head.

[Le ciel défend, de vrai, certains contentements;
Mais on trouve avec lui des accommodements.
Selon divers besoins, il est une science
D’étendre les liens de notre conscience,
Et de rectifier le mal de l’action
Avec la pureté de notre intention.
De ces secrets, madame, on saura vous instruire ;
Vous n’avez seulement qu’à vous laisser conduire.
Contentez mon désir, et n’ayez point d’effroi ;
Je vous réponds de tout, et prends le mal sur moi.]

Molière (1622-1673) French playwright, actor [stage name for Jean-Baptiste Poquelin]

📣 Don't miss this Sunday's email where we dive deep into the power of intent and intention – in learning, in Hebrew, and in life.

Especially in light of the recent events at the Hague court.

This Sunday, we're unraveling how intent shapes our learning processes, influences our grasp of Hebrew

@karenyin So interesting, the thoughts on "diabetic". Every couple months someone pings my workplace style guide to recommend against using "see" in cross-reference language because it's rude to or excluding of people with low or no vision, and we keep citing our own employees with visual impairments who say no, for god's sake, just use "see," we get what it means, don't make it more convoluted! #goodintentions

The single biggest #division in the human world seems to be between people who, at all costs and despite any evidence otherwise, need an #Infallible #leader, be it #Trump, #ElonMusk, #God / #Jesus or #GretaThunberg and those who want their leadership to be #human with flaws but general #GoodIntentions, who must be held to account and are often replaced or added to.

It seems to be an insurmountable difference.

Roll on the #Rapture or the #SpaceShip to #Mars

Empathy with people who struggled to create online community only to have it suddenly torn apart.

Empathy with people who have limited time &/or tech experience having to suddenly adapt & locate new ways to stay connected.

Empathy with people doing the tech work for little communities wanting to provide safe landing places but suddenly finding themselves overloaded with new users & increasingly complex moderation tasks.
