AI to decimate the Radiology profession - NOT so fast!

Predictions that AI would rapidly steal radiology jobs and/or replace radiologists has not really come to pass. The Mayo Clinic have begun using AI to sharpen images, automate routine tasks, identify medical abnormalities and predict disease. In essence, AI is serving as “a second set of eyes.” So far, AI is proving to be a powerful medical tool to increase efficiency and magnify human abilities, rather than take anyone’s job. nytimes.com/2025/05/14/technol

We are living this decade of #aiHype lamebrain experts every year with imminent #AIRadiologists standalone replacement of #HumanRadiologists pushed out all over the news...

I'm really pleased I was able to gain cooperation for wearing an #ElastomericRespirator for each of these three #MedicalImaging #scans.

I hope these experiences also help #radiology technicians and #radiologists be aware that #patients may be able to be supported successfully in this way.

Hope the above was helpful for other folks. 🙂

When considering the potential complications and ethical issues that arise from researching, purchasing and implementing #AI tools, how can #radiologists and stakeholders alike navigate such a complex web of information?

This multi-society study seeks to answer these questions by delving into the roles of developers, radiologists, and purchasers when considering the benefits, risks, costs, and safety associated with #AI tools and technology.

Hi #MedMastodon
I'm a #radiologist in 🇨🇦, specialized in breast imaging.
Interested in anything the helps improve breast health care: access to screening & diagnostics, quality assurance & quality improvement, standards & guidelines, education, evidence-based medicine...
Firm believer that #radiology should be a core rotation in medical education.
Looking forward to finding my fellow #radiologists here.
