Bon RIP mon #Pinephone à son 4ème anniversaire.

J'essayerai de le sauver en petit serveur maison, car en USB il survit je crois, sur batterie (pas morte) il s'éteint tout seul random.

Hop, reçu mon HMD 2660 Flip, bienvenu en l'an 1999 !

🚨 Breaking News: Someone in 2025 prefers a phone that can't even remember its own number. 📞🔋 Apparently, using a device that’s dumber than a brick makes you a genius now. 😂 Who knew that going back to the Stone Age would be hailed as a tech revolution? 🤔

samueleamato.xyzWhy I Use a Dumbphone in 2025 (and Why You Should Too)

Do you really need all those apps installed on your smart phone? Do you know what they even do, besides take up space?

Founded by Petter Neby in 2008, "Punkt." is based in Switzerland and offers two different mobile models: MC02 (for intentional tech use) & MP02 (for minimalist design). These are excellent "Dumb Phone" alternatives to those who don't want an uninvited spy in our pocket.

I've wanted to get a 'dumb' phone for a while now. The requirements for me are 5G support, Signal support, and wifi hotspot support.

The use case is using mobile data for Signal calls/texts and mobile hotspot for when I want to use a tablet or laptop for internet tasks.

The Punkt MP02 checks many of these boxes, but it only supports 4g, and its Signal support isn't satisfactory because I can't easily add other devices (laptop, desktop).

I have dumbed-down my iPhone today. Turned off nearly all notifications and badges for apps that are not messenger apps, took away unnecessary permissions from apps and installed a replacement for the home screen.
My phone has been quiet since, distraction-free and I don't hate it so much any more.
Just wanted to share this - I can totally recommend!

Does anyone know a #dumbphone that actually works? I've been using Nokias for ages, but since HMD Global took over the software suck smegma out of the ass of Hitler and is unusable. I've tried a few different brands like CAT's tough phone, but the problem persists.

I want a dumbphone that is reasonably tough, has good battery life, good call quality, good for texting with, and that has a calendar and calculator function.

My followers might've noticed a surge of activity from me on Mastodon in the last few days.

So the story is that I was sticking to #KaiOS feature phones to not have social media with me everywhere. But now my feature phone is broken and I can't find a new one to buy. KaiOS is falling. So I borrowed my brother's old Android phone.

And I installed Tusky Mastodon app on it. Then I was encouraged to have more activity on Mastodon and spending more time in it. And even spending sleep hours to browse mastodon in bed, which is very unhealthy for sleep.

Now, I truly understand that having social media with me on my phone is a bad idea. Yesterday I uninstalled Tusky from the phone. I think having Mastodon on my PC is enough for me.

Also I do really wish I could have a feature phone like KaiOS phones.

So, when these Apple devices die (or rather, when the updates have slowed them down enough, and the battery has depleted to the point of not getting through the day - which should be next year or the year after, if the pattern holds)… my next devices will be some of the following, and I’m looking forward to the challenge of getting them to work… any recommendations?

Phone options:
- Pine Phone
- Fair Phone
- Murena
- Librem
- Pro 1x
- Volla Phone
- SageTea XFone

Watches:
- Any of these with AsteroidOS: wiki.asteroidos.org/index.php/
- PineTime

Any suggestions or advice?

Back to #Wayland and input methods.

What's your favorite input method?

Cause for me it was the one on old #Nokia phones. I could type with my hands in my pockets! Handy in winter.

Tested with #cosmic and #GTK .

This is just the beginning. Actually useful stuff is coming in the future. #Mobile keyboards, #Chinese input is what it's for:
