@eclecticpassions @joel I’m planning to install #antix on an old MacBook as well. Gave a few distros a live version try. Antix for me the clear winnner. #MXlinux #fluxbox was a distant 2nd

@juliavithoria Muy bueno #Fedora #KDE!
One excellent advantage of the ultrawide monitor is the #Fluxbox groups / tabs have more space, so I am grouping more windows together. Can focus on one at a time, but also switch easily between them with Super+Left/Right Arrows.
I'm still amazed by the power / speed yet paradoxical simplicity of FluxBox
I've seen many Window and Desktop Managers in the past decades.
For as far as I remember; this is the only Window manager FluxBox, which enables multiple monitor background choosing in the login requester screens out of the box, I repeat OUT OF THE BOX
I run all versions of MX Linux here. Xfce KDE & the amazing FluxBox Desktop Environment.
I can tell you that a tremendous amount of work has been done to make it work smoothly without systemD.
The small errors I get are never ever in the realm of systemD
They're always somewhere else where I can troubleshoot and fix
I've easily & smoothly configured KDE Konnect to work in Fluxbox WM
An #MX #Linux nomadic #LiveUSB system with dynamic persistence is everything you need to go around with an updated full #GNU+#Linux #OS in your pocket, ready to work in any machine you found around in your pilgrimage... Really awesome...

From the amazing people that brought you #antiX:

Dug in the manpages to find that middle mouse is key to adding workspaces in fluxbox. I had forgotten that button since I hardly need it in XFce which is my main DE & KDE wich I started reusing after having left a couple of decades
Since this command...
`xfce4-screenshooter -S -d 2 --window -s "$HOME/Pictures/$(date +%Y-%m-%d_%H-%M-%S)_Screenshot2.png"`
...segfaults in fluxbox atm I did not bother with a screenshot, because xfce4-screenshooter rocks way too much to use another one
At this moment I'm roughly tuning a very nice FluxBox Desktop in an OpenSource POSIX driven OS.
I'm working on tuning my Desktops Environments in such a way that it doesn't matter whether I run them in Linux or *BSD
That way I'll just fire up the Operating System inject my own configuration for the desktop environment fire up X.org and then start working
FluxBox has been a favorite window / desktop manager of mine a couple of decades ago.
Since it has been written efficient it's blazingly fast
I combine tools that I love from Xfce with FluxBox so that my muscle memory for shortcuts can be used in a super smooth manner
Fair enough. #Screenshot attached. #Fluxbox with #emacs split paned and a few grouped windows. (Why don't other WM / DEs have this?)
Need to download and compile at least wmglobe.
Would love to redo the dock apps to be 128 px instead of 64. Of course, back in the day, 64 was almost too big.
Also, got my across-the-top conky reworked to be on the far left.
Now that the important stuff is taken care of, I should prolly do some work.
Okay, I admit, I gave up on #QTile and went back to #Fluxbox.
I promise, it is me, not qtile. My work flow just doesn't benefit from tiling, and I spent too much time trying to get it to act like Fluxbox. It isn't Fluxbox.
On the plus side, I learned a bit more python playing around with QTile and now know about rofi - a nice replacement for dmenu_run (which I had been using since forever, I think).
https://github.com/davatorium/rofi
Still loving the 3440x1440 monitor, though. On #Gentoo #Linux, ofc.
got the 3440x1440 monitor set up yesterday. unwisely switched to it at the same time I switched from #Fluxbox to #QTile. Feeling the change stress.
But, got #Conky working; am getting used to the different layouts, and am enjoying the extra real estate. Need to tweak the fonts and some settings a bit, but feeling more okay with it than I was last night.
That said, anyone know how to set the N E S W margins individually? Tried a few ways; all errored out. Top conky = need bigger margin there.
My TTh #AdultESOL class finished Thursday. My SSu class finished today! I have two weekends off and have my TTh nights back (not doing that class again anytime soon - just too much during the regular #k12 school year).
So, of course, the first thing I did this afternoon was have #ChatGPT help me come up with #Mozilla #Firefox userChrome.js to make the keyboard shortcuts more like #emacs.
Also created a script to grab webcam frames for #conky to display (#fluxbox #linux) on the desktop.
TIL about fedi.video, I will read first but I never knew I needed it ;)
Do you like this links to the other plugins used?

Now I have YAT (yet another toy) to play with on all platforms I dwell upon. Love KDE Connect features.
In fact I played with it for a few hours yesterday.
