#synthesizers

Sometimes I put off doing something for so long that my mind forms a mental block around the task and it feels too intimidating to actually do it. Most recently, I had that with making #music. I wrote some lyrics for a song and set up my gear and DAW the way I liked, but when it came to actually making the song, it felt like a huge task. Finally broke through that mental barrier this month and made some decent progress in just half a day.

I know talking about #IOS on here immediately opts me out of the cool kids club, but I just wanted to point out an incredible resource I found in my current wandering journey through the pocket universe of #synthesizers and music making more generally:

This guy's channel is a treasure trove of really useful and interesting information. Reviews, tutorials, and signposts galore for all manner of quirky, wild and interesting apps for making, synthesizing, and sequencing music on IOS.

I'm particularly enamored at the moment with TC-11, a rather remarkable multi-touch "instrument" he pointed out:

I really wish all this stuff were available on Android. I'm no fan of walled gardens, but the sad truth is that publishers don't want to invest the same way in Android apps and there's barely a market for any of this in IOS either as most of these apps haven't been updated in years.

He also co-authored a #vcvrack like modular synthesizer for IOS called Solderbox:

It's pretty incredible.

Have fun all! And maybe some enthusiastic open source authors could be inspired by some of this stuff to create parallel tools in the Android-verse :)

All of my content including music, videos and animations have been produced with and on iDevices like the iPad and iPhone.
