Just a gentle reminder that through geological time, shifts in #carbonate producers mean that the geometry of carbonate platforms (as well as #reef shape) changed.
Please try to keep that in mind when drawing your models. I'm trying to stay mad, but I'm actually just growing disappointed.

We've been working on a massive riddle tying together #self-organization, #carbonate #diagenesis, reactive transport, #paleoclimate and #Milankovich cycles, and very stiff PDE systems.

If you've missed the poster at #egu24, you can still find it attached to the abstract in the conference program (meetingorganizer.copernicus.or) and on Zenodo zenodo.org/records/10943274 If you're into numerical methods, tricky PDEs or other aspects of #modeling, please see if you have any advice to us 😄 #solvers #PDE

"#Cloudina originated in a low #oxygen environment with periods of notably higher #oxygenation... it was not a case of sustained oxygenation that resulted in the appearance of #skeletonization... high #carbonate concentrations in the ocean were necessary"

Developing Tailored Data Combination Strategies to Optimize the #SuperCam Classification of Carbonate Phases on Mars: agupubs.onlinelibrary.wiley.co -> Optimizing #Carbonate Classification on #Mars: eos.org/research-spotlights/op - combining data from several of #Perseverance rover’s spectroscopic sensors offers a more accurate means to classify carbonate #minerals that may hold hints of ancient life.

The most beautiful calcite found in Poland was mined in the #Zelejów #quarry - Chęciny #marble or #Zelejówrose (since the 16th century). Its decorativeness is due to the crystalline structure of light #calcite surrounded by cherry #hematite. It has a diversified #ribbon-strip, #breccia or bow structure. Unlike classic marbles, it was not formed by metamorphic processes (advanced physical and chemical transformations of #carbonate #rocks ) but #hydrothermal #Wavellcastle was built from it.
