If you're tempted to tell a friend that they eat like a child because of a limited palate; don't. It's ableist.

I'm someone who is now 60 and has a very limited palate due to autism and sensory issues as well as trauma over food (corporal punishment if not cleaning the plate type of trauma).

I can't speak for others but for myself. That said, I have a lot of regret that I cannot eat wider array of food and I feel shamed when people comment on me picking something out of a meal that I can't tolerate. I'm not doing it for fun. But because I want to be able to enjoy the food without gagging.

Don't shame people for how they eat. You don't know their inner struggles and shaming them just exacerbates the shame they already feel for being that way in an omnivorous society.

As Samhain and Halloween approach, balancing festivities with sensitivity toward neurodivergent community members, particularly those with Sensory Processing Disorder (SPD), fosters a more inclusive environment and ensures everyone can comfortably enjoy the spooky season.

This one is highly personal but is what I deal with daily as both a parent and writer. I aimed to give insight on #autism and the different levels, Non-Verbal, meltdowns, and other disorders that can accompany parenting/caregiving someone with #autismspectrumdisorder Also, the challenges as an author and tips at the very end!

Does anyone with kids with a #SensoryProcessingDisorder (or have it themselves) have a #recommendation for a cooling weighted blanket? Ideally something that can be used on the couch (e.g. not a bed sized comforter) or even just a brand rec? My #4yo has #eczema on top of their SPD and getting too hot under a normal blanket has made their eczema so much worse now that summer is here...

#BoostsAppreciated for visibility, it's hard to decide what my #4yo will like when I can't relate to their sensory needs :/
