“It allows you to:
👉 Understand sea level change scenarios and visualize potential impacts on a map
👉 Explore water level and flood frequency trends
👉 See the top 10 flood events for your location
👉 Determine what time of the year your community is most likely to experience a flood..”

Boating today was very slow going, but lovely and sunny.

With the canal water so low – some say it's down a half foot or more – there's so little water under the boat, the drag is substantial.

On the way there was a cute boathouse, with a brick arch that echoes the arch of traditional canal bridges and aqueducts. Not sure why they need gunholes, though. 😅

#CanalLife#canal#arch

They won't have a choice once that limit is reached 😞

The canal's water level has dropped further, but I hear via towpath gossip that the breach has been dammed.

I still see water slowly flowing in that direction. It's not just duckweed blowing that way in the wind. Deeper particles show all the water is flowing.

Judging from the vegetation, the water is just over 6 in. or 16 cm below usual. (See the photo's ALT description for details.)

I’m currently thinking about contraptions to measure water levels. I have 4 (Reed-)contacts and as many magnets as I like, though less may be better.
I think it should be possible to tell 2^4 water levels from each other.
I’m currently considering a system of 2 - 4 floaters that each close their contact(s) on multiple, different heights by moving their own rod with magnets attached up and down.
Any other, more compact ideas?

The water level in the canal dropped a bit overnight. I realised this when I noticed the boat was listing away from the bank, and only rocking along one axis instead of the usual three.

Closest to the bank, the bottom of the boat was touching ground, underwater.

My neighbour helped me refloat, pushing out the boat while I leaned and swung on the far gunnel to make the boat lift clear of the underwater ground.

Been revisiting my #WaterLevel sensor. We get our water off our roof and store it in a tank. This tells me how full the tank is. The lower board is an ESP32 which can talk #wifi to the server in my house. The upper board connects to an #ultrasonic sensor which pings the top of the water and listens for the echo. The sensor connects to the white plug. The wifi signal struggles to reach the house, but I replaced the old ESP32 with this one which has an external antenna (bottom).
